Life in Hyderabad

Hi Friends,

I must say that ILP really keeps you busy.. I didn't even get time all this while to just sit down and share all my experiences with you..

For starters, Hyderabad is a city you'll definitely like. Being 100% north Indian, I can say that Hyderabad has been a welcome change for me. I like the weather, food, culture, telugu songs played in buses/radio, telugu movie posters, Hyderabad Times with Tollywood news, tourist spots/places to visit and so on. I've lived in Delhi NCR for the past 4 years of my college but never thought that South India could be such a welcome breath of fresh air. Some of you might think .. are you serious?! but the truth is.. at the end of ILP you might not feel like leaving Hyderabad.. its both the people as well as this city .. you will understand these emotions at the end of the three months of ILP.. trust me on this :D

Talking about the places to visit, you might have googled it already ... there are so many that i'll just mention the places you should NOT miss.. Golconda Fort (for historical monuments enthusiasts), Nautanki Galli , Paradise & Zafraan Exotica (for foodies) , Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and Ethipothala Falls (for adventurers looking for a 1 day trip) .. and most important is the Ramoji Film City (must visit) ...
Go ahead .. Google all these places and do add them to your travel wish list till you are in Hyderabad :)

For me.. the three months were not enough at all :( .. missed a few places ... I'll suggest that dont waste any weekend.. do make plans and go out... be it a small group or a LG outing.. (you'll understand what it is after joining) ... its like following "Work Hard Party Harder" .. in any case they will make you work very hard during weekdays :P ... so utilise the weekends well ...

    Hi Trinity ...
    when I am searching about the streams in TCS Hyderabad,I came to know about your blog.It's interesting to know about ILP at Hyderabad.My Date of joining is on 4th feb.Can you please tell me Is there any need to do certifications in Java or Unix?

      hi hima .. congrats for your DOJ .. see if you ask me is there a need to do certifications.. it totally depends on your area of interest, free time and money involved etc etc ... Java or Unix.. again.. depends on you because if you dont do any.. you dont lose anything .. its just that if you have certifications on your profile they will consider it while assigning you to domains during ILP or giving you projects of your choice.. And since your DOJ is already declared .. i think they will not add you to the batch where they call specifically those people who have done star certifications for advanced training during ILP .. so whichever certifications you do.. it'll help you in a way for example if you have a certification in Java you might get Java as your technology domain..

    Hello, for the accommodation, should we report at tcs and they will allot the rooms, or should we directly go to manjeera towers? And reporting one day before the doj for accommodation will suffice na?

      Go to the accommodation .. not the office!

      yes you can get one.. but keep it hidden ;) .. yes they use scanner but at the office .. they don't scan your luggage at the accommodation! who told you that! O.o

    hey my joining date is 11th march.....hows the accommodation out there.....we r 6 guys from the same college for ilp....have heard that TVs are also available...is it so??? coz i cant miss EPL n IPL...:)
    Also i dont have any knowledge of coding as i m from mechanical background.....is it gonna affect me during ilp??
    As i m from mumbai, what are chances of getting the same location as base branch after ilp...

      Accommodation is very good.. and yes there is 1 TV per flat so you wont miss anything! dont worry about your knowledge of coding .. many others come from non cs-it background.. it will be a challenge undoubtedly but you will get through if you word hard enough as in follow the lectures and study before exams!
      Allotment of base locations is completely random .. cant say much about it! you must have given your preferences .. consider yourself lucky if you get your 1st preference!

    hey my DOJ is 4th march...... there is mistake in my DOB, 12th marks(more than 60% though) and there is change in my address(present and permament). they will rectify there or it will cause severe problems. Also I want to know what are the domains provided at ILp hyderabad.
